Columbus Police Need Help Identifying Rape Suspect

Written by Ben Davis

Police are attempting to identify a man who raped a woman and injured her so badly, she was hospitalized. The two had met that night of the alleged attack while he was shopping at her workplace near Sawmill Road and Tuller Parkway.Authorities said the pair were together throughout the evening last month, going to a few locations including getting some drinks.

Later in the night, police were called to a residence and found the victim who had been violently assaulted.

Police said the suspect is quite charismatic and there is a concern he may befriend and attack again.

“Because of the violent nature of the assault, yes there is a fear that he could do this again. Also he was very personable, very social,” Columbus Police Sgt. David Pelphrey said.

Sgt. Pelphrey said police are partnering with Central Ohio Crime Stoppers to offer a cash reward for tips that lead to the arrest of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477) or go to our website at www.stopcrime.org and e-mail your tip.  You can text a tip to “CRIMES” (274637), key word CMH.
