How it works
We pick movies that received high ratings both from viewers (IMDB) and critics (Rotten Tomatoes). In other words, really good movies.
We narrow them down to those that didn’t make a huge splash at the box office. This way not only are the movies great, but you haven’t seen them yet.
A good movie is magical: relaxing and challenging at the same time. The power of a good movie can turn your worst day around, stick with you forever or make you shout from the rooftops.
Sadly, not all good movies can be commercially successful. Things like marketing, distribution and other business variables that have absolutely nothing to do with filmmaking decide how many people the movie will reach.
This is bad for movies. In the long run, it discourages directors from working on original projects and trying new things or addressing difficult themes, instead making huge profits their sole concern.
But it is also good news because it means that there are many, many great movies out there that are overlooked, not because they’re “bad”, but because they either didn’t fit or didn’t care about fitting the business model. Our main goal at AGoodMovieToWatch is to gather these movies in one place and showcase them to you without a lot of fuss. We’re all about finding you great movies you’ve never heard of but will absolutely love.
To do that, we break down our reviews by genre, mood and our unique tags to help you find exactly what you’re looking for—whether it’s from across the globe or right under your nose. If you’re feeling adventurous, click “random” and let us do the work of choosing for you!
At AGoodMovieToWatch we are our users! The majority of our suggestions and reviews are provided by users like you. As staff, some of our own new favorites (like Senna for example) have come from user-submitted content. We are so grateful and invite you to tell the world about a movie you like too.
Here’s to never having to wonder what to watch again!
