Washington, DC — At a press conference today in Washington, President Barack Obama announced his plans to sign an executive order increasing the national minimum wage to $25/hr.

“This will be a huge boost and stimulus to the economy,” Obama told reporters. “With this change spending will increase, overall attitude in this country will rise, and our national debt will decrease. This is a win-win for everyone.”

Senator Rand Paul told Fox News he does not agree with the decision made by the president.

“Obama needs to follow the constitution in these matters,” Paul said. “He cannot continue to sign executive orders without the approval of congress or the American people.” Rand continued, “A raise in minimum wage that is this drastic is not only bad for small business but bad for everyone else in this great country.”

Paul Horner, a spokesman for the Obama Administration told MSNBC this is a great move by the president.

“This move by Obama is monumental and will forever be remembered in history,” Horner said. “We must trust our leaders and their decisions. Obama was elected president to this country for a reason, and that reason is simple; he knows what he is doing.”

The increase of the minimum wage for all employees goes into effect June 1st of this year. Obama plans to sign the executive order later today.
