Top 5 mobile e-commerce trends in August

Written by Jimmy Rustling

Mobile e-commerce is on the rise, and it’s not just because of the popularity of apps. The growth in mobile shopping has been steady over the past few years, but it seems like 2018 will be a big year for mobile e-commerce. We’ll look at five trends that are driving the growth of this new type of shopping experience and how they could be changing your own buying habits as well.

Apps are dominating e-commerce.

As the number of apps continues to grow and improve, they are becoming more popular than mobile websites. In fact, according to a report by eMarketer, in 2019 more people will use an app than visit a mobile website on their phones or tablets. This is because apps have many advantages over websites that make them easier to use and more secure:

  • They’re faster: Apps load faster than most other types of content (including text-based HTML5 pages), so you don’t have to wait around for your page to load before being able to buy something from your favourite retailer!
  • They’re easier: Most people don’t even bother trying out new apps because they’re already familiar with their functionality; instead, we just go straight for what we know works best for us based on past experiences with similar products or services offered by other sites like Amazon Prime Video & Netflix

Mobile shopping is increasing in popularity.

Mobile shopping is increasing in popularity. Mobile e-commerce is expected to grow faster than desktop e-commerce, accounting for more than half of all e-commerce by 2020. In August 2018, mobile shoppers spent $1.5 billion on Amazon, up from $1 billion in the same period last year.

Mobile shopping has also become a much more convenient way for consumers to do their purchasing: thanks largely to advancements in technology and consumer behaviour over time, it’s easier now than ever before (and much cheaper) for shoppers on their phones or tablets while they wait at home or at work if they don’t have access right away but want something quickly later today/ tomorrow evening etcetera so check out our article here: https://www.dhl.com/discover/en-ph.

Amazon is still the most visited mobile e-commerce site.

Amazon is still the most visited mobile e-commerce site in the US and UK, with Alibaba coming in second place. The top five sites are:

  • Amazon.com – 1,271 million visits per month (in September 2017)
  • Alibaba – 482 million visits per month (in March 2019)
  • Etsy – 494 million visits per month (in November 2018)
  • eBay – 495 million visits per month (in December 2018)

Instagram, Facebook and Twitter are all launching services to facilitate e-commerce transactions.

  • Instagram is testing a shopping feature.
  • Facebook is testing a shopping feature.
  • Twitter is also testing an e-commerce service, which it says will allow users to buy things directly from their timelines, or even via direct messages with friends (though this may not be available in all markets).

Mobile gift cards are growing in popularity.

Mobile gift cards are a popular way to give a gift and they’re convenient, easy to purchase and a great way to introduce new customers to your brand. They also make it easy for you as the retailer or brand owner to reward loyal customers who have already made purchases with your company.

Mobile e-commerce continues to grow at a rapid pace.

Mobile e-commerce continues to grow at a rapid pace. According to a recent report from Google, mobile e-commerce is expected to increase by more than 200% in the next five years. This growth rate is even faster than desktop e-commerce and it’s expected that mobile commerce will continue growing at this pace for many years.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we can see that mobile e-commerce is growing at an exponential rate. Mobile apps and social media sites are popular platforms for e-commerce transactions, while mobile gift cards are another promising trend in this space. Hopefully, these trends will continue to grow as more people become familiar with the benefits of shopping online on their device of choice.
