LONDON – Singer of popular boy-band One Direction, Zayn Malik remains completely innocent of “any and all recent charges made against him.” The 22-year old celebrity currently has no active warrants for his arrest in the City of London, or the United Kingdom, according to police reports, after search results from news agencies and international media outlets returned no outstanding warrants.

So often, prominent citizens with a high public profile – especially those working within the entertainment industry – are prejudged, tried, and found guilty by the court of public opinion, denying them a fair hearing from a jury of their peers, a basic right afforded to all US citizens. When it comes to prominent citizens, Malik tops the list. This year’s increasing speculation surrounding the young vocal artist was certainly no exception.

The familiar and popular singer of One Direction has maintained a high profile for years, both in front of, and behind the scenes. One Direction’s debut single, “What Makes You Beautiful“, reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, after becoming the most pre-ordered Sony Music Entertainment single in history. One Direction: This Is Us, a 3D documentary and concert film about the group was released by in 2013. The band released their fourth studio album titled Four in November 2014.
All four of Malik’s ex-bandmates, including Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, reportedly greeted the news of Malik’s exoneration with praise, offering him their continued support.
For Malik, the news of being FIAC is welcome, to say the least. With a media empire under his brand’s umbrella, he is responsible to millions of fans worldwide, in addition to hundreds of franchises and projects, both domestic and foreign. Damage to his brand would be substantial.
Extra attention was paid to Malik this year after it was reported that his tour manager Paul Higgins, who has been with the group since its formation, has parted ways with the band.
With his professional status intact, Malik is reportedly pleased and relieved to be a free man today.
