How To Find an Old Classmate Online

Written by Jimmy Rustling

It’s been years since you graduated high school, but every so often, the memories come flooding back. You remember where you sat in math class or how nervous you were when giving that speech to your graduating class. The good times are all still there but have faded into the background with time, and it can be hard to find them again.

Luckily for you, finding old classmates has never been easier! There are a number of ways that people use social media to keep up with their friends from school days gone by. From Facebook search to Twitter hashtags, there is no shortage of people finder sites available for those who want to reconnect with their fellow graduates.  The best part? It doesn’t take long at all before nostalgia begins taking over, and you can get back to reminiscing about the good old days of high school.

So, how do you find an old classmate online? Well, keep on reading! This guide will show you how to use commonly available search tools and social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn in order to track down that one person who always sat next to your locker.

Facebook Search

As you probably know, Facebook is one of the most popular websites out there today. As of 2021, the site has over one billion active users in countries all around the world. This means that, if you haven’t already, there’s an extremely good chance that your old classmates are on Facebook – and if they aren’t yet, it’s very likely they will join soon! That makes Facebook a great resource for finding old friends online.

First things first, head to www.facebook.com  Once there, use the search bar at the top of the page to enter your school name in quotes along with city or state – e.g., ” “Your College,” City, State. ” Next, click on the “See All” link under the list of results to open up a new window showing everyone who went to your college. To find your old classmates, scroll through the list and look for their names. If you find someone you want to reconnect with, click on their name to view their profile.

From there, you can send them a message or add them as a friend. You can also check out their listed friends to see if any of them are people you know. If so, it’s easy to add them as well!

Twitter Hashtags

If your old classmates aren’t on Facebook (or if you just want to cast a wider net), Twitter might be a good option. The site has over 353 million users a month, and many of them use hashtags to connect with others around shared interests or experiences. This means that, by using the right hashtag, you can find old friends who are tweeting about topics that might interest you.

To use Twitter hashtags to find an old classmate, open up the search page at www.twitter.com. From there, type in your college name in quotes and select “Search” to perform a hashtag search for everyone using your college name as one of the tags. You’ll see several results listed – click on each one to take a look at the tweets posted by people at your school. If you notice any interesting accounts or relevant hashtags, follow them or add their tweets to a list for later!

LinkedIn Search

A professional social media site like LinkedIn is another great way to track down old classmates online. Since it caters almost exclusively to business professionals, the site is a great resource for those looking to reconnect with people who went into similar careers as themselves.

To use LinkedIn, open the website at www.linkedin.com and search by name or school credentials to bring up a list of results. Click on each one to check out their profile, then try seeing if any of them are using hashtags that you could interact with or following other relevant accounts!

As you can see, there’s no shortage of ways that you can find old classmates online – even if it takes some digging around social media sites and searching engines. Get started today so you can start catching up with all your friends from the past! Have fun reminiscing about good times together and remember: once upon a time, you all sat in the same classroom!
